Distribution of Information Policy
Policy for the use of ASPO resources to publicize information
ASPO maintains a website and a list of members’ information including emails and addresses. Member information including email and address lists is not to be used for distributing non-ASPO notifications. The email list of ASPO members is restricted for ASPO use only, and use of the email list without permission is strictly forbidden. ASPO resources including the website are to be used only for distribution of information regarding official ASPO business and ASPO-sponsored events.
Non-ASPO entities seeking distribution of information to ASPO members should use one of the resources outlined below. Distribution of information includes notifications or advertisements for events such as conferences, workshops, meetings, and instructional/educational courses.
Both the website and the members’ information are to be used ONLY for ASPO business with the following exceptions:
1. Newsletter: The ASPO newsletter is distributed electronically to all ASPO members. The newsletter is the vehicle for distributing notification about non-ASPO events such as conferences, workshops, meetings, and instructional/educational courses. The Newsletter Editor will handle requests for inclusion in the newsletter and announce deadlines for inclusion in the fall and spring newsletters. Short notifications are appropriate for the Newsletter; larger advertisements are generally prohibited. Listings in the Newsletter will include a disclaimer that no endorsement or approval of such courses by ASPO is implied.
2. Job postings: The ASPO website has a page (http://aspo.us/employment/) which has been developed to allow open employment opportunities to be posted. Listing fees are posted on the webpage and are subject to change. The ASPO administrator and the chairperson of the information technology (IT) committee maintain the employment page. The IT chairperson reviews all postings prior to publication on the website.
3. Fellowship listings: The ASPO website has a page (http://aspo.us/fellowship-listing/) devoted to listings for currently active pediatric otolaryngology fellowships. New postings should be submitted to the chairperson of the fellowship committee for review before posting.
4. External links: The ASPO website has a page (http://aspo.us/external-links/) which provides members easy access to related societies and other resources. The ASPO administrator and the chairperson of the IT committee maintain this page. The IT chairperson reviews all postings prior to publication on the website.
Approved by the ASPO Board of Directors during the Fall 2013 BOD meeting.
